Patricia Townsend Philbeck

Patricia Townsend Philbeck, 66, passed away on October 10, 2026, at her residence in Shelby, North Carolina.

Born on May 13, 1960, Patricia will be remembered for the love she gave to those around her and for the joy she found in the simple things that made life bright. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, and those moments together were among the treasures of her life. She also had a creative spirit and enjoyed working with arts and crafts, especially her bedazzling. Patricia found happiness in driving her Jeep, “Fiat,” and had a special affection for her faithful dogs, Moo, Nugget, and Roo.

One of Patricia’s proudest accomplishments was her marriage of 23 years to Rickey before he passed away, a meaningful part of her life and story.

Above all, Patricia’s family was central to her life. She is survived by her sons, Daniel Huffman of Leland, NC and Glenn Huffman of Connelly Springs, NC; her brothers, Billy Townsend and wife Katrina of Connelly Springs, NC, and Larkin Townsend and wife Karen of Rutherford College, NC; and her sister, Eva “Susie” Ward of Claremont, NC. She also leaves behind the many family members and friends who shared in her life, her laughter, and her love.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rickey Philbeck; her son, Jason Huffman; her father, Larkin Townsend; and her mother, Dorothy Geneva Buchanan Townsend. Their memories remained an enduring part of her life and will continue to be held close by those who loved her.

A graveside service will be held on October 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Rehobeth United Methodist Church, 2036 Rehobeth Church Road, Shelby, North Carolina 28150.

Patricia will be remembered with love for her warmth, her creativity, and the special way she cherished her family, friends, and beloved companions. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
