Mrs. Brown a native of Mecklenburg County, NC, was the past band director and music teacher in the public schools system. She retired from the public schools system after 30 years, having last taught 3rd. grade at Marion Elementary School. After retiring she continued teaching at Cleveland Community College. She was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church where she was choir director and had served as Church Treasurer & Elder.
Mrs. Browne was preceeded in death by her parents Melvin Carl Sumrow & Eva Holthouser Sumrow, her husband Joe Earl Browne, a sister Nora Jean Aycoth and a grandson Eric Douglas Willis.
Mrs. Browne is survived by a son & daughter-in-law; Stephen Douglas Browne & Kim of Boiling Springs, NC, daughters & sons-in-law; Donna B. Grisham & Rob, Tina B. Dellinger & Mark of Cherryville, NC, and a daughter Sheila B. Willis of Shelby. Mrs. Browne is also survived by her aunt Mary Elizabeth Pratt of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by grandchildren; April & John Jackson, Steven Dellinger, Lyndi & Shannon Forrest, Kristi Sullens, Shea Willis, & Ethan Browne, and a great granddaughter Halle Jackson; special nieces & nephews Rebecca Law, Kathy Gerald & Melvin Aycoth.
