Melvin Archie Henderson

Melvin Archie Henderson, a cherished member of the Shelby, North Carolina community, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 1, 2026, at the age of 79. on September 14, 1946, in Shelby, Melvin dedicated a significant portion of his life to a rewarding career as a truck driver, ultimately retiring after years of hard work and dedication.

Melvin had a passion for working on old cars and lawnmowers, often losing himself in the intricacies of mechanics in his workshop. He greatly valued the time he spent with family and friends, relishing every moment shared with loved ones. His love for cigars was well-known among those who knew him, and he took immense joy from the companionship of his two beloved dogs, Sally and TT.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Moore Henderson of 59 years, and a loving family that includes his sons, Roger Dale Henderson (Melissa) of Boiling Springs, NC, and Roby Henderson (Cindy Bivins) of Lawndale, NC. Melvin took great pride in being a grandfather to Savanna, Jonathan, and Samantha Henderson, as well as a great-grandfather to his seven great-grandchildren. Melvin's legacy will continue through his siblings: brothers Johnny Henderson, Bobby Henderson, and Danny Henderson, along with his sisters, Diane and Dorothy.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, J. F. Henderson and Maggie Beaver Henderson. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, as he leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories filled with laughter, love, and a spirit of camaraderie.
