Melanie Young Holt

Melanie Young Holt, born on May 30, 1969, in Marvell, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, in Shelby, North Carolina. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and dedication left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Melanie was married for 32 cherished years to her devoted husband, Tony Wayne Holt. Together, they built a loving family and home centered around care, joy, and togetherness. She was the proud mother of three children: Amanda Pledger and her husband Matt H of Gaffney, South Carolina; Johnathan Holt of Shelby, North Carolina; and Jamie Holt-Bridges and her husband Matt B of Shelby, North Carolina. Melanie’s family extended joyfully to her seven grandchildren—Zackary Hickok, Bryleigh Bridges, Zaylee Hickok, Brynlie Bridges, Zemryn Hickok, and the Bridges Twins—who held a special place in her heart.

Throughout her life, Melanie found deep pleasure and peace in simple yet fulfilling pursuits. She enjoyed planting flowers, raising chickens, and especially spending time surrounded by her family and friends. Her grandchildren were a source of immense joy and pride, and she treasured every moment shared with them.

Melanie’s family roots ran deep with her parents, Benny Young and Marjorie Whitted Young, who preceded her in death. She is mourned and lovingly remembered by her siblings: her brother Chris Whitted and his wife Suzanne of Georgia, her sister Cheryl Young-Stevenson and her husband Travis of Georgia, and her sister Jessica Davenport of Arkansas.

A visitation to honor Melanie’s memory will be held from 2:00pm - 3:00pm at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory, located at 2518 W Dixon Blvd, Shelby, North Carolina, on May 9, 2026 conducted by Rev. Bo Wagner. This will be followed immediately by a Celebration of Life service at the same location at 3:00 PM.

Melanie Young Holt’s life was marked by love, dedication, and a spirit that nurtured growth—whether in her garden, her family, or her community. Her legacy endures through those she loved and the countless lives she touched with kindness and grace. She will be deeply missed and forever honored in the hearts of her family and friends.
