Mavorine Melton VanDyke

 Mrs. Mavorine Melton VanDyke, age 96 of Shelby, NC, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 18, 2024. 

 Born December 1st 1928 in Cliffside NC, she was the daughter of Wilbur Clifford and Vinnie Cobb Melton. Mavorine spent her early years as a hairdresser a mother, grandmother and a devoted wife. She had a deep abiding faith and trust in her Lord and Savior. She was very active in her church, Dover Baptist, where she taught Sunday school. Mavorine had a remarkable talent and found joy in painting. She was loved by everyone and brought happiness to the lives of those who knew her. 

 Mavorine is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Robert) Johnson, of Martinez, GA, her granddaughter, Lauren (Dennis) Redd, and her great grandson Lucas S. Redd, all of Augusta, GA, and her brother, Kenneth Melton in Wendell NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Tommie VanDyke Jr., and her siblings, Polly M. Haney, Mae M. VanGundy, Mozelle M. Honeycutt, Hussler Melton, Norman Melton, Yates Melton, Miles Melton, and Eugene Melton. 

 A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Monday, December 23, 2024, at Cleveland Memorial Park conducted by Dr. Bulo Ervin Price.
