Mr. Vaughn passed away Monday 9-10-2007 at Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Vaughn was a native of Greenville County, SC and retired from Duke Power where he was Superintendent of Operations. He was a member of First Baptist church of Boiling Springs, and former member of the Lions Club and Chess Club. Mr. Vaughn served from 1939 - 1945 in the 337th Field Artillery and 88th Division of the Un. S. Army during WWII. He was a Staff Sargent and received the Bronze Star Medal.
Mr. Vaughn's parents were the late Andrew Jackson Vaughn and Birdie Cox Vaughn. He was also preceeded in death by a brother William Day Vaughn, and sisters Mary Vaughn Saverwald, Jennie Susan Vaughn, and Minerva Vaughn.
Mr. Vaughn is survived by his wife Dorothy Christie Vaughn of the home, sons J. Charles Vaughn of Charlotte, Robert Henry Vaughn and wife Theresa of North Wilksboro, NC, & Michael Edward Vaughn and wife Cynthia of Wilksboro, daughters Linda Vaughn Campbell and husband Ronnie of Lincolnton, NC, Nancy Vaughn and husband Tim of Jacksonville, Fla. He is also survived by grandsons Brian Vaughn & David Vaughn, and Jason Campbell & Clay Campbell of Asheville, NC, granddaughters Angela Vaughn of Charlotte, NC, Anna Cote Campbell of Lincolnton, NC, Allison Vaughn Atwood of Charlotte, NC, Erica Vaughn Harler of Wilksboro, NC, Natalie Lovelace, Liza Lovelace of Jacksonville, Fla., and a sister Oberner Posey of Greenville, SC., and a number of great grandchildren.
