Jo Ann Carroll Harmon

   Jo Ann Carroll Harmon, of Shelby, North Carolina, passed away on September 25, 2026, at her residence in Shelby. She was born on March 15, 1937, in Cherryville, North Carolina.

   Jo Ann will be remembered as a woman of faith, dedication, and warmth. She graduated from Fallston High School and later attended Kings College in Charlotte, North Carolina. For more than 50 years, she worked as an insurance agent for the State of North Carolina, a career that reflected her steady commitment and strong work ethic.

   Beyond her work, Jo Ann found great joy in life’s simple and lasting pleasures. She loved to travel, was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her life was also guided by her faith, and she was a faithful member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

   She is survived by her brothers, Jimmy Carroll and Billy Carroll; her niece, Pat Morton; and her nephew, Marcus Morton. The love of her family remained an important part of her life and will continue to be a lasting part of her memory.

   Jo Ann was preceded in death by her her husband, Jack Harmon, and by her daughter, Jaqualin Harmon, her mother, Maude Conner Carroll; her father, William Edgar Carroll; her brothers, J.L. Carroll, Roy Carroll, and W.E. Carroll; and her sister, Margaret Morton.

   A graveside service will be announced at a later date.

   Those who knew Jo Ann will remember her for her devotion to her family, her many years of faithful work, her love of reading and travel, and the quiet strength with which she lived. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
