James David Sisk, Jr., a cherished soul born on April 22, 1960, in Cleveland County, went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2025, at his residence. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and an indomitable spirit that will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew him.
An avid supporter of his alma mater, Shelby High School, James was a proud member of the alumni community that he cherished deeply. His love for history, coupled with a passion for connection, led him to enjoy engaging conversations on Facebook, where he fostered relationships and shared snippets of his life. Most significantly, James dedicated his life to his family and his faith, attending Morris Memorial Baptist Church, where he found joy and fulfillment among his fellow parishioners.
James’s warmth and compassion extended beyond his human connections; he adored his feline companion, Mr. Drysdale, frequently sharing moments of joy that his beloved kitty brought into his life. Whether surrounded by his family or immersed in his love for his church, James always embraced the world around him with open arms and a loving heart.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Tammy Ledbetter, and his cherished nieces and nephews: Olivia (TJ) Caune, Madison (Brice) Conger, Lucas (Maria) Ledbetter, Zachary Ledbetter, and Cade Ledbetter. James also took immense pride in his great-niece, Johanna Caune, and great-nephew, Jude Caune, who brought him endless joy.
James was preceded in death by his father, James David Sisk, Sr., and his mother, Jacquelyn Bridges Sisk, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms in the presence of their Lord.
To celebrate his life, a visitation will take place on December 29, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Morris Memorial Baptist Church, located at 421 Moriah Church Rd, Casar, NC 28020, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM and a burial at Cleveland Memorial Park, 1225 College Ave, Shelby, NC 28152. The services will be officiated by Dr. Chris Emory, honoring James’s legacy of love and faith.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to his church, Morris Memorial Baptist Church, 421 Moriah Church Rd, Casar, NC 28020, or to Shelby High School Booster Club, www.shelbyhighbooster.com, in his name. To honor his memory, the pallbearers are as follows: Lucas Ledbetter, Zachary Ledbetter, Cade Ledbetter, TJ Caune, and Brice Conger.
