James Melton

Mr. Melton, 66 a native of Cleveland County, NC, passed away Thursday at his home. He was retired from the City of Shelby where he was a Water Treatment Plant Operator and a member of Gantt's Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and a member of the church Brotherhood & Baptist Association Board.
He was preceeded in death by his parents Paul James Melton & Donis Bridges Melton, a son Joey James Melton and two sisters Ruby Melton & Peggy Humphries.
Mr. Melton is survived by his wife Violet Melton of the home, a son and his wife Joel Melton & Doris of Mooresboro, a daughter and her husband Sonja Vandervort & Danny of the home. He is also survived by three sisters Pauline Presson, Rachel Pearson & Margaret McIntyre & husband David all of Shelby and a brother-in-law Fred Humphries of Shelby. His grandchildren are Paul Melton, Bridget Melton, Josh Melton, Nikki Melton, Kayce Vandervort & Hayden Bubba Vandervort, one great granddaughter Chelsey Melton. Last but not least he is survived by his faithful pet Noble.
