Mr. James H. "J.H." Hayes, 85, of Shelby, died March 29, 2013, at Peak
Resources in Shelby.

Mr. Hayes, a native of Cleveland County, was a member of Faith Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years as a photographer. He retired from Riviere printing after 17 years and previously worked at Shelby Printing for 15 years. He received the World War II American Theater ribbon, Victory Medal and
National Defense Service Medal.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Gather Hayes and Emma Crowder Hayes; wife, Louise Whitaker Hayes; brothers, Gerald Hayes and Charles Hayes, age 3; sisters, Edith Brackett, Vivian Hoyle and Avanella Garver.

He is survived by sons, Mickey Schoonmaker and Linda, N. Ft. Myers, Fla., Russell Hayes and Candice Chapman, Patterson Springs, Steve Hayes and Finc'
Tammy Williams, Villa Rica, GA,; daughter Charlene Lemmons and Mike, Mooresboro; sister Edna Black Lattimore; sister-in-law Burnett Hayes, Patterson Springs; grandchildren Christina and (Brad) Fraser, Jason and (Amy) Hayes, Jessica Hayes, Justin Hayes, J.R. and (Meredith) Hayes, Dustin and (Rachel) Hayes, James and (Crystal) Schoonmaker, Melissa O'Cull, Linda and (John) Falcone, Billy and (Karen) Cooke; and 12 great-grandchildren.
