Hester Bowen

Mrs. Hester Melton Bowen, 79, of Shelby, born in Rutherford County, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Hospice at Wendover.

She was a retired textile worker and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where she was a former nursery worker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Melton and Macie Melton Melton; husband, Dwight Bowen; son-in-law, John Thornton; brothers, Bill Melton and Kenneth Melton; and sister, Doris Davis.

She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Campos and Mel, and Gail Thornton, all of Boiling Springs; her sisters, Mary Stallings of Golden Valley, and Shirley Bowen & Bobby of Shelby; grandchildren, T. J. Thornton of Boiling Springs, MeLani Campos, and Mindy Campos, both of Wilmington; and one great-grandchild, Izaiah Campos.
