A native of Jackson Co., Georgia, Mrs. McSwain was the daughter of the late
Hoyt O. Hayes & Minnie Fields Hayes and was also preceded in death by a
daughter, Linda Thompson and four brothers, Ernest, Ralph, H. B. & Forrest Hayes.
Mrs. McSwain was a homemaker and had also worked at Bill's One Hour Cleaners.
She was a faithful member of Zoar Baptist Church for forty plus years and a former
member at Calvary Baptist Church and Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She served
as a Sunday School teacher for forty-five years.
She is survived by her husband of seventy-three years, Arnold McSwain of the
home; a son, Charles A. McSwain and his wife, Iris of Belmont; a brother, Royce
Hayes of Shelby; two sisters, Lois McCoy of Shelby and Joyce Scruggs of Belmont;
son-in-law Dr. John Thompson of Shelby; grandson Chuck Thompson of Banner Elk,
two granddaughters, Sally Thompson of Shelby and Karen McSwain of Belmont;
three great grandchildren, Mackinzey Tanner, Caleb Tanner and Abby Campbell and
a special niece and nephew, Melanie Jones and Cliff Scruggs.

July 31st 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
