Georgia "Deana" Maudine Willis Campbell

Mrs. Georgia “Deana” Maudine Willis Campbell, age 75 of Shelby, NC, passed away January 3, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, William Barry Campbell of the home, her children, Darin Campbell (Heather) of Gastonia, NC, Todd Campbell (Joy) of North Franklin, CT, and Crystal Murray (Richard) of DeFuniak, FL, special niece and honorary daughter, Barbara Mull (Keith) of Bostic, NC, and special nephew, Kelly Campbell (Kelly McSwain Campbell) of Belmont, NC, grandchildren, Brooke Campbell, Will Campbell, Brittany Campbell, Hayden Foster (Geoff), Kempton Campbell, Phoenix Campbell, Kinnick Campbell, William Murray, Miles Murray, Michael Mull, and Matthew Mull, two great grandchildren, Jackson Roberts and Reed Foster, three sisters, Evie Mae Vaughn of Shelby, NC, Brenda Hull of Shelby, NC, and Judy Hubbard of Shelby, NC, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Born November 26, 1949, in Cleveland County, NC, Deana was the daughter of the late Wilburn Frank Willis and Maude Oaks Willis and was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Towery, and a brother, John Willis.

Deana was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and follower of Christ. She loved her husband, Barry, and their love and commitment to each other and Christ was evident to everyone around them. Although she worked outside the home for many years, her favorite work was her time working with babies and young children as a nanny. She was a part of the Emmanuel Emmaus Ministry for many years and a long-time member of Lattimore Baptist Church. Her family and friends were regularly blessed by her acts of service, especially sharing her gift of cooking delicious Southern food with those she loved. Beautiful flowers, recipes, roosters, teapots, and bargain store treasures were some of her favorite items to collect. She enjoyed family get-togethers and her game nights with her sisters. Her joyous laugh was an outward demonstration of the love and joy she found by spending time with those that she loved.

A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Lattimore Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chris Roberts and Rev. Buddy Morehead. A visitation will be held from 1:00pm – 2:00pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Lattimore Baptist Church cemetery.
