Faye Causby Gantt

Faye Causby Gantt, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, in Black Mountain, North Carolina, at the age of 83. She was born on June 6, 1943, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, where her life’s journey began among the rolling hills and community she would come to deeply love.

Faye’s presence was a blessing to all who knew her. She drew strength and purpose from her steadfast faith, devoting herself as a faithful member of Double Springs Baptist Church. Her connection to her faith was not only a personal touchstone but also a guiding light in her outreach and relationships. The church community was a cornerstone of her life, where she engaged with compassion, warmth, and enduring generosity.

Faye served as the organist at Double Springs Baptist Church for more than 60 years.  She was formerly the director of Sounds of Victory Youth Choir.  Faye also taught piano and organ for a number of years.  Through her professional career, Faye worked as an accounting supervisor at Doran Textiles Computer Center and later worked and retired as the office manager at Cleveland Funeral Services.

Family meant everything to Faye. She is survived by her devoted sons, Todd Gantt of Catawba, NC, Scott Gantt of Shelby, NC, and Michael Gantt and wife Ruby of Morganton, NC, each of whom carries forward her legacy of kindness and integrity. She was a loving grandmother to Brian Gantt of Shelby, NC, with whom she shared countless joyful moments. Faye is also survived by her dear sister, Wanda Rabb, a companion in both life’s sorrows and celebrations along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her life was also shaped by those who preceded her in death, including her beloved husband, Johnny Gantt, her father, Bryan Battie Causby, and her mother, Irene Lovelace Causby. Their memories remained close to Faye’s heart throughout her days, and she honored them through her own life of grace and resilience.

Those who knew Faye remember her deep love for gathering with family and friends. She found immense joy in making memories with them, creating a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unwavering support. Whether sharing a meal, swapping stories, or simply enjoying each other's company, these were the moments she cherished most. Faye especially enjoyed time at the beech, where the rhythm of the tides and the calm sea mirrored her gentle spirit.

A woman of quiet strength, Faye’s presence was a source of comfort and encouragement. Her ability to listen, her thoughtful counsel, and her unwavering loyalty will be missed by all who had the privilege of being part of her life.

A visitation will be held from 2:00pm - 3:00pm Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Double Springs Baptist Church in Shelby.  A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm at the church conducted by Rev. Dale Byrd.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
