Eugene Charles Koenig, Jr., born on November 9, 1944, in Bexar County, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at his residence. He was a cherished member of his family and a respected professional in his field, known for his expertise in pipe fitting as a critical welder.
Eugene was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, reflecting a commitment to service that characterized much of his life. His skills and dedication in the welding industry earned him respect among his peers, and he took great pride in his work.
In his personal life, after the passing of his beloved wife Dotty, Eugene enjoyed spending time with his best buddy Carl Paugh, visits from good friends Steve (Ski) and Kim Wisniewski, visits from family, and the simple pleasures of spending time with friends, particularly at the Vintage Dog in Boiling Springs, NC. These gatherings were a source of joy for him, allowing him to connect with others and celebrate friendships forged over the years.
Eugene is survived by a son, Lonnie Koenig, his cousin Cynthia Koenig, his Aunt Gladys Koenig, his daughter Tricia Kiely, and grandchildren Hannah, Patrick and Reagan Kiely. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Charles Koenig, Sr., his mother, Laurel Koenig, and his wife, Dorothea (Dotty) Koenig. Eugene's legacy will be remembered fondly by his family and friends, who will carry his memory in their hearts.
A Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, June 8th at the Vintage Dog in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, however, times for the service will be announced at a later date by his daughter and his friends at the Vintage Dog
