Donald Andrew Loucks passed away on September 10, 2026, at Atrium Health Pineville. He was born on January 5, 1965, in Onondaga County, New York.
Donald will be remembered as a man who treasured the people closest to him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and that simple, steady love for those around him was an important part of his life. Whether sharing everyday moments or gathering with loved ones, he found joy in connection and companionship.
He also served his country with honor in the United States Navy. From 1983 to 1987, he served aboard the USS Carl Vinson CVN-70, a chapter of his life that reflected dedication and commitment.
Donald started firefighting in 1980 in Liverpool, NY as a junior. He later started his fire fighting in NC in December of 1987 with Number 7 Fire Department. Donald continued his fire fighting duties at Shelby City Fire Department in October of 1995 and retired June of 2021. Donald got his EMT certification in the early 90's and started teaching in July of 1998. Beyond his uniforms, Donald was a devoted husband and father. He loved teaching and helping students and the community in general.
Donald leaves behind those who will carry his memory forward with love. He is survived by his wife, Connie Moore Loucks of the home; his daughter, Melissa Loucks of Shelby, NC; and his brother, John Loucks Jr. and wife Gail of Liverpool, NY. In their hearts, his presence will remain a lasting source of love, remembrance, and gratitude.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Loucks Sr., and by his mother, Kathryn Willm Loucks.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 15, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory, 2518 W Dixon Blvd, Shelby, North Carolina 28150.
Donald Andrew Loucks will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
