Charles Macon Michael, age 79, of Shelby, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC. A native of Lincoln County he is the son of the late Jacob Michael and Lucille Ewing Michael. He worked as a truck driver for over 40 years before his retirement. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He loved his grandchildren, family, and dog B.B. Mr. Michael also loved being a Mason. He was a member and Past Master of Camp Call Masonic Lodge #534. He was also Honorary District Deputy Grand Chaplain for the 35th Masonic District. He was a member of Union Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Helen Walker Michael; two brothers, Jack and Jim Michael.
He is survived by two sons, Tim Michael and wife Cherry and Chris Michael both of Shelby; two grandchildren, Lindsi Michael Hunter and husband Brett of Wilmington and Macon Michael of Shelby; two great grandchildren, Holland and Summerlyn Hunter of Wilmington; three sisters, Shirley Hartley, Mable Richardson and husband Charles, and Charlotte Reynolds and husband Tim; two brothers, Kenneth Michael and wife Donna and Hugh Michael and wife LaDonna; one sister-in-law, Joanne Michael; numerous nieces and nephews.
