Barbara Lee Childers Ogle, born on April 18, 1942, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, at Wendover Hospice House located in Shelby, North Carolina. She leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, and unwavering faith, most prominently as a devoted member of the Old Rugged Cross Baptist Church in Shelby.
Barbara was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her profound impact on the lives of those who knew her will be deeply felt for years to come. She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Ogle Mullinax and husband Johnny of Blacksburg, SC, and Tonnie Ogle Pruett and husband Brian of Shelby, NC. She is also survived by her son, Ricky Dean Ogle and wife Lori of Blacksburg, SC.
Barbara's family blossomed under her tender care, and she took immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Kayla Smith and husband Thor, John Mullinax, Mindy Mullinax, Megan Bell, Kristin Boone and husband Jeremy, Blake Ogle and wife Anna, Austin Ogle and wife Elizabeth, along with eleven great-grandchildren. Each member of her family held a special place in her heart, and Barbara's love for them was immeasurable.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Dean Ogle; her son, David Lamont Ogle; her parents, Edward and Alice Childers; and her sisters, Edna Ruth Thurston, Annie Mae Spencer, Bonnie Seay, and Mattie Mae Mullinax. Their memories and the bonds forged in life will forever inspire and comfort her family.
In addition to her family, Barbara had a rich array of interests that showcased her vibrant spirit. She found joy in working on puzzle books, caring for her house plants, and cooking for her loved ones. She cherished spending time outdoors, often sitting on the porch to enjoy the tranquility of nature and the company of family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Barbara’s life with a visitation on February 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 5:00 PM conducted by Rev. Jerry Allen, both are taking place at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory, located at 2518 W Dixon Blvd, Shelby, NC, 28150.
Barbara Lee Childers Ogle's life was a testament to her unwavering love and dedication. She will be missed dearly and remembered lovingly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family would like to express a sincere thanks to Emily Johnson and Nita Rohrer for the loving care they gave Barbara during her time of need.
