Armand’s life was marked by devotion to family, enduring bonds, and a steadfast warmth that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Armand Leo Richard, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Shelby, North Carolina on August 5, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on March 20, 1945, in Acushnet, Massachusetts, Armand’s life was marked by devotion to family, enduring bonds, and a steadfast warmth that touched all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Armand was a man whose presence radiated kindness and quiet strength. His early years in Acushnet shaped a foundation of character that would define him throughout his life. Through times of both joy and challenge, Armand was ever a pillar for his loved ones.

He was a devoted husband to the late Margaret S. Richard, with whom he shared a deep and abiding partnership. Together, they built a family woven by love and resilience. Armand leaves behind his cherished children: Angela G. Jersky, Armand F. Richard, Daniel N. Richard, and Sabrina A. Richard. He also embraced the role of stepfather, caring for Wendy Dries, Karin Der, and Marc Der.

Family meant everything to Armand, and the bonds of kinship extended far and wide. He was a beloved brother to Donald, Paul, Ann, Robert, Cathy, Rene, Roland, and Barbara Richard. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Alberta N. Ourllrtte and Jo Kenney, all of whom shared life's journey with him and whose lives he enriched with his generous spirit.

Family meant everything to Armand, and the bonds of kinship extended far and wide.

Armand is preceded in death by his dear wife, Margaret S. Richard; his parents, Armand Henry Richard and Lillian S. Marlow Richard; and his sister, Lillian Ann Richard.

He was retired from the United States Navy, serving from 1963 to 1983. He was a member of Cross Country Cowboy Church and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Armand was a past Cubmaster for Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of other organizations including Fleet Reserve Association, Couples Club, Holy Name Church of New Bedford, MA, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.

Those who knew Armand will remember him for his quiet wisdom and steadfast support, traits that defined his relationships with family and friends alike. Each gathering, each moment of counsel, each celebration—these were opportunities for Armand to extend his unwavering encouragement, and his legacy is one of dignity, compassion, and heartfelt connection.

A visitation to honor Armand’s life will be held on August 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory, located at 2518 W Dixon Blvd, Shelby, NC 28150. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at Cleveland Memorial Park, 1225 College Ave, Shelby, NC 28152.

Together, they built a family woven by love and resilience.

As his family and friends gather to say farewell, they carry forward the values, memories, and love Armand so generously shared. He leaves a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who knew him, and his memory will be treasured with affection and respect for generations to come.
