Mrs. Annie Ruth Smith, 86, of Shelby passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late William Clinton Jarvis Hawkins & Vida Hughes Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, O. C. Smith; brothers, Ray Hawkins & Boyce Hawkins; sisters, Aileen Patterson & Nell Turner and great great nephew, Jordin Hamrick.
Ann was retired from Belks where she was a retail clerk and was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and in the Singing Christmas Tree. She loved shopping for clothes & jewelry and buying things for all of her family.
She is survived by a brother, Archie Ralph Hawkins of High Point; a sister, Selma Hawkins Bridges & husband, Otha of Shelby; nephew, Wayne Bridges & wife, Debbie of Shelby; niece, Edith Ann Deaton & husband, Robert of Shelby; great nephew, Jeremy Bridges & wife, Laura & their son, Jake of Shelby; great nieces, Anna Hamrick & her son, Jacob of Boiling Springs, Ashley Kee & husband, David & their son, Carter of Shelby and a nephew, Matthew Deaton of Shelby as well as numerous other nieces & nephews.
